Writer of Australian Outback Spectacular.
Well known Australian writer Russell Haig has worked on a number of feature films in the U.K., including, '2001 A Space Odyssey', 'A Dirty Dozen', 'Accident', 'Otley', 'Deep End', 'The Last Grenade', 'Press for Time', 'Sinful Davie', 'Hell Boats', 'Lady Caroline Lamb' and 'A Clockwork Orange'.
Russell is a qualified architect who returned to Australia and joined Crawford Productions as script editor on 'Matlock Police'. He conceived and co-produced 'Cash and Company' and 'Tandarra', a historical comedy/drama series set in Australia's gold rush era.
Russell co-wrote the 1980's Australian adventure/comedy film 'BMX Bandits', which won an Australian Writers Guild AWGIE Award for best Original Children’s Drama.
Haig has worked as Script Editor with Simon Wincer on his feature film, 'The Cup', due for production in late 2009. Simon and Russell also worked together to co-write 'Australian Outback Spectacular 2 - Heroes of the Light Horse'.
Inspired by bands playing Waltzing Matilda on Anzac day, Russell investigated the story behind the song. Combining known history, Banjo's poem and a good deal of imagination, a fascinating screenplay emerged.
Russell is now working on writing another Banjo Paterson inspired feature film based on his poem, 'The Geebung Polo Club' as well as developing an animated family feature film for Maker Films.
